Yandicoogina
Newman, Pilbara, WA, AU
Yandicoogina is a large open-pit iron ore mine roughly 95 kilometres north-west of Newman in the Pilbara, owned and operated by Rio Tinto since production began there in 1998. Ore is processed on site before being railed to port, with annual output in the order of 52 million tonnes. The operation was among the earliest in the world to run a fully autonomous truck fleet, helping pioneer remote mining technology now used across Rio Tinto's Pilbara network.
