Voisey's Bay is a nickel, copper and cobalt operation on Labrador's northern coast, about 35 km from Nain, supplying Vale's processing network since it opened in 2005. Mining began as a large open pit and has since moved underground, feeding a 6,000-tonne-per-day concentrator and extending the mine's working life into the mid-2030s. It stands out among nickel mines for also yielding meaningful volumes of cobalt as a by-product.
