Tropicana

Tropicana is a major gold mine roughly 330 kilometres northeast of Kalgoorlie in Western Australia, managed by AngloGold Ashanti in joint venture with Regis Resources. Discovered in 2005 and brought into production in 2013, it is counted among Australia's top five gold producers, yielding around 330,000 to 350,000 ounces a year through a combination of open-pit and underground (Boston Shaker) mining. The remote site also hosts one of the country's largest off-grid hybrid power systems, blending solar, wind, gas and battery storage.
