Taganito Mining Corporation, part of the Nickel Asia Corporation group, has operated its nickel laterite mine near Claver in Surigao del Norte since 1987, making it one of the longest-running nickel operations in the Philippines. Alongside the mine, the adjoining Taganito HPAL plant processes ore into a nickel-cobalt mixed sulphide product, among the first high-pressure acid leach facilities built in the country. Together with its sister operations, the site helps the Nickel Asia group produce the largest volume of laterite nickel ore in the Philippines.
