Kansanshi

Kansanshi is First Quantum Minerals' flagship copper operation, located near Solwezi in Zambia's North-Western Province and run through three open pits alongside an integrated metallurgical complex. In production since 2005, it stands as one of the largest copper mining and processing facilities in Africa, with an on-site smelter expanded in 2015 and a further expansion completed in 2025 that lifted smelting capacity to 1.6 million tonnes a year. The operation employs more than 13,000 people, the majority of them Zambian.
