Greenbushes, in Western Australia's South West region around 250 kilometres from Perth, holds one of the world's richest known hard-rock lithium deposits and is operated by Talison Lithium, a joint venture of Tianqi Lithium, Albemarle and IGO. Mining on the site goes back to tin production in the 1880s, with lithium extraction added from the early 1980s, making it one of the longest continuously worked mining sites in the state. Multiple on-site plants convert spodumene ore into chemical and technical grade lithium concentrate supplying battery manufacturers worldwide.
