Ghawar Field
Al-Ahsa, Eastern Province, SA
Stretching roughly 280 km through Saudi Arabia's Eastern Province near Al-Ahsa, Ghawar is the largest conventional oil field ever discovered, having been in continuous production since the early 1950s. Saudi Aramco operates the field through several distinct producing areas along its length, and despite its age it remains a central pillar of the Kingdom's crude output and spare production capacity. Decades of reservoir management and water-flood technology have kept Ghawar among the most studied oil fields in the world.
