Ernest Henry

Ernest Henry is a copper-gold operation about 38 kilometres northeast of Cloncurry, in Queensland's Mount Isa mineral province, one of Australia's most significant base-metal regions. First developed as an open pit in the late 1990s under Glencore's predecessor Xstrata, it later moved to underground block-cave mining before Evolution Mining took over as operator in 2023. The site crushes, grinds and floats its own copper-gold concentrate before railing it to the Port of Townsville, and employs around 800 people.
