Boddington, Peel, WA, AU
Boddington is a large open-pit gold and copper mine about 130 kilometres south-east of Perth, near the town of Boddington in Western Australia's Peel region. Run by Newmont, it ranks among Australia's biggest gold producers, with combined output regularly topping 800,000 gold-equivalent ounces a year. In 2021 it became the first gold mine worldwide to move to a fully autonomous haul truck fleet, and many staff commute daily from nearby communities rather than flying in and out.
