Bailadila
Kirandul, Chhattisgarh, IN
NMDC's Bailadila operation sits within a roughly 40-kilometre hill range near Kirandul in Chhattisgarh's Dantewada district, home to some of India's highest-grade iron ore deposits. Mining began in 1968 with Deposit 14, recognised as India's first large-scale mechanised open-cast iron ore mine, and the complex today spans several pits yielding ore above 66 percent iron content. Output is carried to the coast via a 267-kilometre slurry pipeline to Visakhapatnam, the longest ore pipeline in the country, supporting NMDC's push toward far higher national annual capacity in the years ahead.
