Komatsu Australia, headquartered in Fairfield East, New South Wales, has operated in Australia since 1965 and employs around 3,711 people. It manufactures, distributes and services earthmoving, mining, quarry, construction and utility equipment across Australia, New Caledonia and Papua New Guinea, via branches, assembly and fabrication facilities, distribution centres, training centres and remanufacturing operations. Its underground mining arm, Komatsu Mining, based in Rutherford, NSW with about 799 employees, traces to Joy Global and has been part of Komatsu since 2017, serving Australia, New Zealand and Indonesia. The parent company, Komatsu Ltd, was founded in Japan in 1921.
